The Annual ITA-ASIL Conference
In 1996, ten years after the creation of the ITA, the Advisory Board announced the formation of an Academic Council (AC) “to serve as a link between ITA and some of the most respected law school professors who teach in the field.” The ITA attracts well known academics and greatly benefits from the involvement of those who teach and write in the field of arbitration.

Rutledge (Associate Professor of Law, University of Georgia Law School, Athens)and Edna Sussman (Arbitrator & Mediator, SussmanADR LLC, Scarsdale) at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The
Annual Workshop
The ITA's annual Workshop addresses current issues of
practice, procedure and policy in transnational commercial
arbitration. The Workshop is presented each June in
Dallas and attracts participants from over 34 countries and 14 U.S. states. The program customarily includes several mock arbitration
scenes interspersed with expert commentaries, in this
manner both explaining and demonstrating the issues
addressed. The mock proceedings and commentaries are
written, performed and presented by an international
faculty of experts that includes many of the foremost
arbitrators and arbitration practitioners in the world.

The three primary young international arbitration organizations have joined again with ITA to present a special program on the eve of the Workshop. The Roundtable included two substantive panels of young and not-so-young international arbitration specialists and concluded with a networking reception. The Roundtable is designed for young lawyers under the age of 40 who are practicing or interested in practicing international arbitration.

Kalicki (Arnold & Porter, Washington, D.C.) and Klaus Reichert (Bar Council of Ireland, Dublin) at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
The
ITA Forum
On the morning following the Workshop, the ITA hosts
its invitation-only Friday morning Forum, an informal
roundtable discussion on current transnational arbitration
issues. The Forum is open to Advisory Board members
and Workshop faculty.
A
special event, the Forum provides the opportunity for
members of the ITA Advisory Board to share their considerable
experience in transnational arbitration in an informal
environment on emerging and important issues of the
day. The agenda for this open discussion is determined
by the participants. |
