How to Join

The Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law (SWIICL) is a division of The Center for American and International Law. It includes a broad network of international law firms and corporations and is an important contributor to international continuing legal education.

You may become a member of the Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law by completing the membership application online or by downloading the membership application and sending it to us by mail or fax.

Membership is available to corporations, law firms, and other individuals or organizations interested in international law.

SWIICL's educational programs include the Annual Symposium on Global Markets and the Academy of American and International Law. The Symposium is designed for experienced international lawyers from the United States and other countries and is business-oriented. The Academy is a six-week program for lawyers from countries other than the United States and is also business-oriented.

Membership in the SWIICL provides a variety of benefits. Each member may appoint one or more members, based upon membership level, to SWIICL's Advisory Board. Members of the Advisory Board may attend the annual Symposium on Global Markets at no tuition charge. The Advisory Board meets annually during the Symposium.

Further, each year, members of SWIICL may designate a candidate to receive a full or partial tuition fellowship to the Academy of American and International Law.

SWIICL members may also send a certain number of representatives to the Symposium at no tuition charge: Patron and Sustaining members may send an unlimited amount of representatives, Supporting members may send eight, Sponsoring members may send four, and associate members may send two.

MEMBER BENEFITS

Associate Member – $1,000 annual dues
• send one person to Academy by paying an additional $1,200
• name one person to the Advisory Board; appoint one Deputy Advisory Board member
• send 2 people + the Advisory Board members tuition-free to the annual Symposium

Sponsoring Member – $2,500 annual dues
• send one person tuition-free to Academy
• name two people to the Advisory Board; appoint two Deputy Advisory board members
• send 4 people + Advisory Board members tuition-free to the annual Symposium

Supporting Member -$5,000 annual dues
• send two people tuition-free to Academy
• name four people to the Advisory Board
• send 8 people + Advisory Board members tuition-free to the annual Symposium

Sustaining Member – $7,500 annual dues
• send three people tuition-free to Academy
• name six people to the Advisory Board; appoint six Deputy Advisory Board members
• send an unlimited number of persons tuition-free to the annual Symposium

Individual Member – $650 annual dues
• become a member of the Advisory Board and attend the Symposium tuition-free
• send one additional person to the Symposium tuition-free
• attend the Academy yourself by paying an additional $1550

Academy Alumni Member  $150 annual dues
• become a member of the Advisory Board and attend the Symposium tuition-free

• receive a discount at other Institute programs
